So this is it.
This is the game that all scousers and mancs want to win. They would gladly beat each other twice this season and get relegated at the end of it. Well maybe not. But you get my drift on how important this game is.
Man City and Everton think that Utd and Liverpool respectively look out for the derby dates first when the fixtures come out in July. They are wrong. They couldn’t be more wrong.
So what to expect.
These games are tight. Fergie will go with one upfront and try to nick all three points but would settle for one now.
Rafa has NEVER beaten Utd in the Premier League since his reign began in 2004. He needs to change that statistic.
I personally don’t think Utd will start with Berbatov. He hasn’t played in a game like this, blood and thunder, and will maybe get his chance if Utd are either coasting or losing come the 75 minute mark. If the game is as tight as the previous 3 encounters at Anfield he may have to wait another week to make his debut.
What of Liverpool, Englands most successful club, just. Good news for them as Torres and Gerrard have been passed fit. They are Liverpool, without them possibly little if any chance of getting anything from this game.
Robbie Keane will be looking to make a mockery of Fergies comments that Keane was the surprise signing of the season at £20.3m.
Riera will be making his debut for LFC – on his Man city debut, where he was on loan at 2 years ago he ended up on the winning team in the Manchester derby 3-1. Scousers would bite your hands off for history to repeat itself tomorrow.
Team news:
LFC – Torres and Gerrard passed fit, Lucas not involved due to late return of international duty
Man U – Carrick could return. Ronaldo is out until Oct.
Last season: 0-1 (Tevez)
